| Abstract | : | The Bethe-Bloch equation gives an inaccurate representation of the functional dependance on particle energy of the relevant quantity needed for the evaluation of the ionization spectra from detectors used for particle identification. Instead, ``Bichsel functions" are presented here. These functions depend on segment length as well as on truncation method. |
