With the retraction of the west poletip today, the installation of the
STAR endcap electromagnetic calorimeter (EEMC) is complete. Although the
full detector was in place for the last run, the completion of readout
electronics had to wait until this summer's shutdown.
Initial testing shows no
major problems, and commissioning will begin when the platform is fully
powered
after roll in.
