Introduction
This page is intended for posting general notes
on the current status of the simulation data sets and is subject to frequent
updates. Please note that the status of the data listed here, is restricted
to the output of the GEANT simulation. Such data is written out
in Zebra format, and the filenames have the extention "fzd"
or "fz". These are usually stored on disk for a short period
of time and then migrated to HPSS (however, special arrangements can be
made).
In the following, for a particular dataset,
the location of the files can be determined by adding it's name to the
following path:
/star/simu/simu/gstardata
Typically, the simulted data is processed with
a suitable reconstruction chain. The output of the chain is written out
as Root files. Inquires about how to get the data (including reconstructed
data) should be directed to Lidia Didenko. Also, the reconstructed
Monte Carlo files that are still disk resident can be found using the
command:
get_file_list.pl -distinct
-keys path -cond 'runnumber=2000001234,filetype=MC_reco_MuDst,storage=NFS'
where "1234" is the nuimber of the dataset
(see the table below) , and the prefix 200000 is used as a placeholder.
Similar results, but using the type of the data instead of the explicit
dataset number, can be achieved with:
get_file_list.pl -distinct
-keys path -cond 'collision=pp200,production=P05ie,geometry=y2004y,filetype=MC_reco_MuDst,storage=NFS'

News
- 07/2006 Results of the D0 study have been presented at the
Collaboration Meeting.
The data from the Pythia simulation wave and from the Hijing/D0 mix
exercise is being flushed to HPSS.
- 06/2006 Datasets rcf1261 and rcf1262 have been produced. These
contain superposition of single D0's with Pythia phasespace distribution,
onto CuCu Hijing events at 200 and 62 GeV, respectively.
- 06/2006To further boost the statistics, we have produced dataset
rcf1272, which combines events in the D0 sample with different Hijing
events.
- 05/2006 As per the Spin PWD request, we have produced two high-Pt
Pythia datasets (see rcf1270 and rcf1271 in the table below). In addition,
we are augmenting statistics in the datasets rcf1224-rcf1233, while
keeping same geometry (Y2004Y) and other parameters same. Production
is shared between the local rcas farm and the Grid resource (PDSF).
This is reflected int he datasets' names.
- 04/2006 We are have produced Hijing+D0 events. The datasets
have three parts each as commented below and serve a few purposes:
- "generic" Hijing data useful for all sorts of testing
and detector development
- pure D0 datasets that may be helpful in assessing the detector's
efficacy under ideal conditions
- D0 against the Hijing background as a basis to develop the D0
detection/selection methodology.

Archive: News 2005
November-December 2005:
- SVT tracking studies, - CuCu samples with updated SVT geometry,
distorted geo.
- Multiple Herwig datasets are been generated, featuring improved
even header and interface with starsim.
October 2005:
- To further our SVT tracking studies, we have produced a AuAu sample
with updated SVT geometry, currently included in new tags such as
Y2005D
- Multiple Herwig datasets are been generated
September 2005:
- A small Herwig dataset has been generated for the purpose of comparison
with Pythia.
More data will be produced pending the results of this initial testing
(Joanna Kiryluk)
- Minbias Pythia run complements the previously generated Pt-binned
datasets
- All of these was done with the diamond parameters: 60, ± 120
cm
June 2005:
- Pythia "Large Pt Survey" runs have been done with CDF
Tune A, and MSEL=1 settings, as chosen by the PWGs.
