Pre- and PostShower MIPs with adjacent SMD strips
6-03-2004

We identified MIPs using only the response of calibrated SMD planes U & V for sector#5. To identify a MIP the pattern 00xx00 or 00x000 was required in both planes U & V, as described in the previous page (MIPs...).
In this study we look at the response of towers/pre/post-showers tagged with MIP identified in the SMD. The tower ID was found from the VxV cross point of fired strips in both planes.
All Figures below consist of 4 panels for towers(T), pres1(P), pres2(Q), and post-shower(R). There are 3 plots in each panel: Figure 1 (ps) shows the results for MC simulation of a 5 GeV π+ thrown uniformly across the tower 06TC04 (∼1000 events). The x-axis for Towers plot is ADC/70 and for the rest is just the ADC from the simulation without any treatment.

Figure 2 (ps) shows the results from 800K low multiplicity minB events taken with eemcCalib trigger during AuAu 62 run. The x-axis of the 1st plot titled h05TC03 is the energy= (rawADC-ped)/gain, while for the rest of the plots its the ADC=(rawADC-ped).
We still have problem with the tower spectra - pedestal is not well seen, probably there is a cut somewhere in the code. The holes in spectrum comes probably from rebinning int-- >float-- >int . This will be investigated.
