This is another view of the Final Focus Test Beam area at SLAC,
used for the T-438 test of the STAR endcap electromagnetic
calorimeter prototype. Visible in the picture is one of the
FFTB quadrupole magnets. The exit window, separating the FFTB
beam line vacuum from air is mounted on the flange immediately
downstream of the quadrupole. The black-tape covered scintillators
used for triggering readout are still in position for setting the
timing for the trigger electronics.
Partially visible in this view is the translation table that the 1200 pound prototype detector rests on. The table provided the capability of remotely translating the detector by +/- 15 cm across the FFTB beam. |
