This report is based on a meeting held in France on January,7 2000 involving J.Baudot, C.Kuhn, C.Roy and L.Martin
On a relatively short time scale there are two main milestones for the SSD Software :
- The Mock Data Challenge 3 scheduled for the end of March – April. The two first MDC did not included the SSD. For MDC3, at least the SSD hits and a tracking algorithm using the SSD hits need to be ready.
- The need to test the full software chain on a given number of detectors (a full ladder for example) once they are ready and installed at BNL. We suppose that all hardware elements (detectors, electronics, DAQ components) will be available for such test within 6 months.
Below is the list of all the components of the SSD Software including the main tasks which should be completed, an estimated time needed and the persons involved in this tasks. After each item, MDC3 or CHAIN indicate if the task has to be completed for the first or the second milestone.
DAQ and interfacing software
F.Lefevre and A.Boucham
- Design and implementation of the version 1 of the SSD DAQ and the interfacing software (SSD Reader…) for the "data taking" mode
Completion time : end of March
Milestone : CHAIN
- Design and implementation of the version 1 of the SSD DAQ for the "calibration" mode
Completion time : 6 months
Milestone : CHAIN
Calibration
Strasbourg and Nantes
- Definition of the "calibration" mode. What do we want to calibrate : pedestals, noise, dead strips, A128 and ADC gains ? Which parts of the software are doing the calibration : DAQ, Online, Offline ? Which databases are involved : Calibration, Condition ? What are the I/O needed : DAQ- Calib dB, Online-Calib dB, Online-Condition dB ?
Completion time : 1 month
Online/Interface with the calibration dB
J.Baudot, M.Germain, B.Hippolyte and C.Khun
- Monitoring in the "data taking" mode and I/O with the DataBases (mapping of the dead strips, dead chips…)
Completion time : 6 months
Milestone : CHAIN
Slow Control
J.Baudot and D.Bonnet
- Definition of the typical "scales" of the slow control monitoring such as the list of the parameters which will be monitored, the accuracy and the frequency for the updates of these parameters
Completion time : 1 month
Milestone : CHAIN
- Implementation of part of the definitions as a first prototype
Completion time: 1 month
Milestone : CHAIN
- Definition of the alarm criteria (nominal parameter range, action to take after an alarm)
Completion time : 3 months
Milestone : CHAIN
Reconstruction
B.Hippolyte and C.Kuhn
- Implementation of the cluster finding and cluster matching algorithms
Completion time : 1,5 month
Milestone : CHAIN, attempt to be ready for MDC3
Simulation
F.Retière and A.Boucham
- Implementation of the code simulating the charge deposite on the strips with the dependance on the particle angle.
Completion time : 1 month
Milestone : CHAIN, attempt to be ready for MDC3
Global Tracking
P.Leszczynski, A. Maliszewski and L.Martin
- Implementation of the new EST version at a level of performances at least equivalent to those of the previous versions
Completion time : end of March
Milestone : MDC3
- Evolution of EST in order to use the hits from the reconstruction chain (with associated probabilities) and to solve remaining ambiguous hits.
Completion time : 1 to 2 months
Milestone : CHAIN
SVT Tracking
C.Roy
- Update of the SVT grouping algorithm to include the SSD
Completion time : end of March
Milestone : MDC3
Low Pt tracking
J.Castillo and L.Martin
- Design and implementation of a tracking algorithm dedicated to the low pt particles.
Starting time : February
Completion time : Fall 2000
SSD Alignment
O.Ravel and one student
- Update of the SVT alignment code to include the SSD
Starting time : March
Completion time : June
