GENERAL DESCRIPTION

This unit is a single-width module which contains one 24-bit input register and one 24-bit output register. The unit may be strapped for high true or low true inputs and outputs. Outputs are optional open-collector or totem pole. The unit has handshake signals for both input and output data and LAM’s are set to indicate acceptance and ready for additional data. The IN and OUT connectors are either type 2DB52P or 50 pin D.

INPUT REGISTER

The input register is loaded by an external device and read by CAMAC using dataway read lines R1-R24. An externally supplied LOAD DATA strobe latches the input data into the input register and LAM (IN) is set approximately lµs after the leading edge of the strobe. Strapping is provided to allow data to be latched by issuing an F0 A0 command. In this mode, it is assumed that input data is present and the desired data is presented on the read lines during the following F0 A0. A 0.5µs DATA ACCEPTED (IN) signal is returned in response to the LOAD DATA Stobe.

OUTPUT REGISTER

The output register is loaded by CAMAC using dataway write lines W1-W24. Once the register is loaded using an F16 A1 comand a READY flag is raised to indicate data availability at the front panel. An external device connected to the OUT connector must recognize the flag and return a DATA ACCEPTED (OUT) signal. DATA ACCEPTED (OUT) removes READY and sets LAM (OUT) signifying that a new word may be output. Each LAM has a separate LAM ENABLE. LAM's are logically "ORED" to drive the front panel "L" indicator and the dataway LAM line.

Self diagnostics may be performed by enabling internal loopback. In this mode, the contents of the output register are read back via the input register.

In IN and OUT connectors are type 2DB52P or 50 pin "D". Input register signals each have a 1K pull up register in order to accomodate TTL, open collector or relay closure drivers; negative excursions are diode limited. The outputs are optional open-collector or totem pole outputs. The unit may be strapped for high-true or low-true inputs and outputs. If the unit is strapped for program mode then the unit may be placed in either mode under program control. In program mode Z or C sets the unit for low-true input and output.

Z or C CZ 0 Clears both registers, LAM's status and request, disable internal loopback, and set Low True mode for both input and output signals.
