Up: General information

Introduction

MiniDAQ is a fully functional data-acquisition system--capable of delivering data from one TPC sector (6 readout boards) to tape or on-line processes. However, it is not, and was never intended to be, a substitute for DAQ: readout of an event from one sector requires 6 seconds, typically, and many features are limited. The data format is unique to MiniDAQ--distinct from both the DAQ tape format and the TPC analysis format.

This document gives step-by-step instructions for starting and running the system, but assumes that the reader is somewhat experienced with the system already and is in need only of some details or reminders.

The user is assumed to be working from the deneb.star.bnl.gov workstation; unless otherwise specified, all processes should be run on deneb.
