Setting Up the Laser

Before doing anything else:

DO YOU KNOW HOW TO USE THIS LASER SAFELY?
DO YOU HAVE CURRENT LBNL SAFETY TRAINING TO USE THIS LASER?

If not, don't touch it; ask an expert (e.g., Alexei Lebedev) to do it. If you have safety-related questions, you may contact the LBNL laser safety man: Ken Barat at 486-7658.

Setting up the laser:

TTI 8-mm tape drive DIP switches:
No documentation available right now, except Susanna Jacobson got this list of settings from Randy MacCleod:

All switches are OFF except for 10, 11, and 12, which set the SCSI ID. The bits are numbered from left to right as you view the switches, and 12 is the lowest bit of the SCSI address. Example for SCSI ID 4:
