MiniDAQ Telnet Problems
- If a window double-echoes characters (which is often the case)
break to telnet with
^-]
(i.e., hold the Control key,
then press the ``close square bracket'' key; type mode char ;
then <Enter>
. You should arrive back at the >
prompt.
- If you cannot telnet to the MiniDAQ processors (perhaps
because of a deneb crash, after which the processors may be left
``connected'' to old, non-existent processes), it may be necessary to
reset the terminal server. The terminal server sits on top of the
MiniDAQ VME crate. It has no power switch; one may reset it by
punching the difficult-to-access, enclosed reset button on the back,
or by pulling its power plug, then restoring it after 15 seconds.
- If it is still impossible to connect, check the physical cable
connections: it's not unusual for the terminal connections to come
loose from the back of the VME crate. Also, the terminal server has
several flaky RJ sockets that do not always make good electrical
connections when first plugged in.
