Peripheral Collisions
Fast moving highly-charged ions carry strong electromagnetic fields that act as a beam of photons. In collisions at large impact parameters (b>R1+R2), hadronic interactions are not possible, and the ions interact through photon-ion and photon-photon collisions known as ultra-peripheral collisions (UPCs). Ultra-peripheral hadron-hadron collisions will provide unique opportunities for studying electromagnetic processes. Ultra-relativistic heavy-ion interactions have been used to study nuclear photo excitation (e.g., to a Giant Dipole Resonance) and photoproduction of hadrons.
Hadron colliders like the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), the Tevatron, and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) produce photonuclear and two-photon interactions at luminosities and energies beyond that accessible elsewhere.

1. Finishing AN paper - reply to the collaboration
2. Finishing ANN ASS analysis - ITEP's responsibility
3. Finishing B-slope and total cross section at 200 GeV - Ivan and Cracow group. This is new responsibility for Cracow. Let me note that finishing the analysis is very important for our future including Run 13. This is because we need to show that we understand and know how to solve the problems related to this measurement.
4. Meson 2012 conference - Jacek is giving a talk on Central Production. The deadline to submit to pp2pp/UPC for review is two weeks before the start of the conference.
5. I am discussing with the STAR management to get the engineering and design of Phase II started ASAP.
6. It is not too early to start planning for RUN 13. We need to assign responsibilities to get ready. The main issue is to have one person responsible for commissioning of pp2pp setup.
