Summary of TOWER gains for 2004 data

The blue line shows the goal gains and 10% deviation band.

  • INPUT : only minB triggered events, 1.5M eve from runs with TPC in the data stream
  • MIP identified by UxV signature in SMD was used to determine absolute gains for sectors 5-8 and slopes were used for sectors 9-4.
  • Valid Tower gains start from RHIC fill F4520, R5042063 i.e. TM0=Feb 11, 17 pm.
  • for some towers HV was changed after TM0. I'll flag those towers with 'fatal: badHV' in the DB:
    * 9TB06, 11TD1,5,7,9,11 -- > till TM1=Feb19 7:45pm , R5050064
    * 6TB04, 6TB07, 6TC09, 6TD10, 7TD08, 7TE07 -- > till TM2=April 6 , just before pp200 run
  • The 12 towers NOT calibrated for the whole 2004 run are:
    - ped only: 01TA09 , 02TB10, 04TB10, 05TE03 , 05TD10, 07TB09 09TE03, 09TB07, 10TD06
    - broken FEE: 06TA03
    - negative ped: 08TD04
    - hot 06TD11
  • Energy = ADC-ped/gain is always in GeV.
  • Table with gains for:
    * sectors 5-8 are listed on iteration5-link.
    * sectors 1-4, 9-12 are listed on iteration4-link.
    Proposed HV change for 2005 run
    The list changes of HV for towers which gain deviates by more than 10% from the goal.
    * sectors 5-8 gain corrections.
    * sectors 1-4, 9-12 gain corrections.
    The grand total: 396 OK, 40 to high, 272 to low.

    Note, the following towers have unknown gains for pp200, or PMT/CW was changed in the summer shutdown. Those towers may require new HV setting ( marked with 'xx' or 'nn' ). The actual list is:
    * new PMT/CW: 09TE02, 01TB03, 02TA06, 12TA08, 01TD10, 07TB03, 06TD10, 05TA12
    * no pp200 data: 09TE03 10TD06, 09TB07, 01TA09, 02TB10, 04TB10, 05TE03, 06TA03, 08TD04, 07TB09, 05TD10, 06TD11
