TOFp System Procedure: pVPD Low Voltage Systems Power On or Off
Description:
This is the procedure to turn on or off the Low Voltage provided to the FEE
in the pVPDs. This is from a single BK Precision Model 1780 Dual Power Supply, which drives
both pVPD's (1 FEE boards each, one pVPD on each side of STAR).

Requirements:
- Notification and Approval of TOFp Group.
- Access to STAR Subnet.
- Password Information (posted at TOF Station in STAR Control Room).

Procedure:
- Open the NPS Tutorial in a browser window
for reference.
- From any terminal window, make a telnet connection to
tofpnps.star.bnl.gov (130.199.88.47). The password is posted at the
TOF Station in the Control Room.
- You are now logged into the Network Power Switch, and can turn specific
plugs on or off to turn specific Low Voltage lines on or off.
- Enter
/S
to display NPS Plug names and status.
- Locate in this listing the names "pVPD_LV", "TOFp_LV+5", "TOFp_LV-5".
Identify the plug numbers (respectively 6, 7, and 8)
pVPD LV ON
- Enter
/on 6,y
to turn on NPS Plug 6, which powers up the pVPD LV.
- Enter /S to check action completed, then
/x to exit the communication w/ the NPS unit.
- Note the action in the Shift Log Book.
pVPD LV OFF
- Enter
/off 6,y
to turn off NPS Plug 6, which powers down the pVPD LV.
- Enter /S to check action completed, then
/x to exit the communication w/ the NPS unit.
- Note the action in the Shift Log Book.

- Contact TOFp Control to inform that
procedure is complete, and with any end-of-procedure comments that are necessary.
