Geometry Design Notes

• Two designs suggested: projectile geometry (just like BEMC is done) and "three supercube" geometry (if it would be possible to get "free" crystals from past experiments.
• CsI crystals, dimensions: 1"x1"x25 cm - long crystals, therefore we re-use BEMC module space
• Crystals covered with 25 mkm Mylar (back plane is not covered)
• Tungsten converter: not at this moment

Due to potential problems/complications with "three supercubes" geometry it was decided (Dmitry,Yulia) to get "single supercube" geometry implemented first with full BFC reconstruction chain. It will allow us to investigate:

• Backgrounds
  • albedo from BEMC modules
  • 'direct' hadron hits in central AuAu200 events
  • SVT/TPC conversions which project to Crystal Detector
• Energy resolution, which depends on:
  • Crystal size, length
  • Geometry type (projective, straight)
• Photon(signal) rates
  • AuAu200: central, midcentral, peripheral
  • dAu: minbias
  • AuAu500(?): central, midcentral, peripheral
