My last message should have read "no problem in adding attenuation if
we need more range." Looking at your plots, it is clear that we do
need to extend the dynamic range. There are plenty of counts at the
upper end of the low gain spectrum with the factor of 2.5.
The simplest thing to do would be to simply change to 20 dB
attenuators (factor of 10 in amplitude). These should be readily
available for 50 Ohms at BNL. You could also add another 8 dB in
series. Since the series attenuation multiplies, this would give you
a factor of 6.3 in amplitude. I think the 20 dB attenuators would be
neater, however.
