monster: star took ~1.2M events!

Found 32788 beam events out of 119803 >>--> ratio = 0.273683

hit patterns normal. strangely, the section of
tofr channels that went strange a few days ago seems to
be recovering (!?)
at least they don't look as bad as they did. wierd.
