First of all many thanks to Bill and Stephen for setting this up!!
<<<this is a working document, i am sure i forgot things please send me
and Bill Waggoner any comments you have>>>

In this document I detail the slow controls (SC) interface to the TOF
systems. The TOF systems consist of three major subsystems: TOFp, TOFr
and pVPD. Until now, the pVPD and the HV for the TOFp have been in SC.
The pVPD is both monitored and controlled (through the TRIGGER tree),
the TOFp only feeds its HV values to SC for storage in its dbase.
For this year the SC interface to TOF will be centralized through the
TOF tree. It will have three subtrees TOFp, TOFr and pVPD.

* pVPD
This interface will remain exactly the same as it always was. The GUI
interface will be relocated to the TOF tree.
* TOFp
The TOFp hvmon program on tofpdaq.starp writes out hvmon.evt files on
the SC disk. So far, this data has been recorded for dbase purposes
only. From now on the HV settings can be monitored from SC interface. We
will have a "comm" alarm which indicates whether the event file didn't
get updated in 20minutes (yellow) or 1hour (red). A "G" box will explain
to the shiftcrew what to do next: essentially referring to the online
procedure for TOFp HV.
The monitoring part shows the timestamp, the 4 branch HV values and the
the 41 cells. Each cell has 3 numbers associated w/ it: cell-id, HVread
and HVset. The format of the hvmon.evt file is as follows
unix_timestamp
HV_br0 HV_br1 HV_br2 HV_br3
br cellid HVread HVset errorflag
<this last line repeats 41x>
(example see below)
The monitoring should not sound any alarms (yet) if possible it should
change the color of that cell when the readback and set value are more
than 80V apart. This value might change. Also, we would like to have the
capabality of a "kill" file in which we can disable this behaviour for
some cells (some notorious cells can show fluctuations >100V w/o
performances problems)
* TOFr
** The TOFr gas system is the most important component to SC as it is a
requirement for running isobutane and possibly SF6. The gas monitoring
software on gasmon.starp writes out an event file called tofrgas.evt.
The file consists of a single line of numbers:
unix_timestamp freonflow isobutaneflow sf6flow isbutaneratio sf6ratio
(example see below)
-Like TOFp the Gas-comm alarm should ring in case of communication
problems: yellow when not updated in 4minutes, red when not updated in
15 minutes. (These numbers might change)
-The monitoring parts has alarms for the two ratios:
if any ratio >1.2 yellow alarm
if any ratio >1.6 red alarm
Typical actions for the shiftcrew for yellow alarm:
1. check all TOFr gasflows, pressures and the bubbler in the gasmixing room
2. contact TOF detector expert
Typical actions for the shiftcrew for red alarm:
1. stop all gasflow to the TOFr tray by switching off all switches on
the gasflow monitor in the gasmixing room
2. contact TOF expert.
-The monitoring part has only one gasflow alarm on it:
if the freon flow drops below 55ccm: yellow
if the freon flow drops below 10ccm: red
Typical actions for the shiftcrew for Yellow alarm are
1. check all TOFr gasflows, pressures and the bubbler in the gasmixing room
2. contact TOF detector export
Typical actions for the shiftcrew for Red alarm are
1. switch OFF the TOFr HV
2. perform actions 1+2 for yellow alarm.
** The TOFr HV system will be writing out an event file too. It will
have a timestamp and the set and read back values on the 4 HV channels.
I'll update you on this one later ...
