Dear shiftleaders & detector operators,
  Earlier today Huan reported a DMA read error in the TOF DAQ. It shows
up as OPER(ATOR) error in the logfile and turns TOF red in the RTS
display. It is important to know that these errors should not be
ignored. In case this happens again, please follow this procedure:

* record the message line which tells you about the error. Typically, I
am interested in the line# and whether it says TOFp, TOFr, ADC or TDC.
Make a note in the online logbook and email tofp_at_physics.rice.edu this
information.
* stop the run, or finish it soon.
* logon to tofpdaq.starp.bnl.gov as user tofp (passwd should be posted
next to the TOFp terminal in the STAR Control Room).
* enter the command "tofpdaq restart" and answer "y" to confirm
* type "tofpdaq status" to check whether everything did come back. If
not, try "tofpdaq start". If no succes, contact the detector experts.
* logout from tofpdaq.starp.bnl.gov

We will update our online Procedures Documentation accordingly and let
you know once that has been done.

thanks,
  Frank
