The scope of the ONLine software overlaps with the OFFLine code in many areas. But, in principle, the ONLine task can be divided in three parts:

(a) Unpack the data provided by the DAQ system and define the interface to all following software;

(b) Monitor the performance of the detector during the data taken;

(c) Define the structure of the Data Base for the SVT, the quantities that must be stored and a mechanism to insert and retrieve the data from the Data Base;
