This page is intended for posting notes on the current plans for producing
simulation datasets, and is a working document subject to discussions
within and among the PWG's.
Planned Simulation Runs
We keep the previously used dataset naming convention,
where the abbreviated site name (such as rcf or pds) is
concatenated with the serial number of the set. Also, note
that save for the first run, the Hijing simulation is
done with the Y2004a geometry, which fixes the performace
problem associated with custom treatment of the
Photon Multiplicity Detector.
The most recent change to the plan is the extended Z-cut
on the diamond size in the Spin group request.
The "rcf" in the dataset name means it was produced at the BNL
farm (typically rcas), while "pds" is reserved for the
sets dome mostly at PDSF.

Comments:
- for the purposes of metrics we choose the rcrs CPU as
standard. In the following, the metrics for Starsim, Reco and total
are presented in hours per event per 1 rcsrs CPU. The Sample Total assumes
100 rcsr CPUs employed.
- Pending a metrics update, and based on prior experience, we use a scaling
factor of 3.0 to estimate the central sample resource consumption by extrapolation
from the minbias

Note that as most of the production is now scheduled
to run on PDSF via the grid facilities, the above estimates
are being revised downward, i.e. we can count on at least
factor of 5 greater speed, per CPU, when running there,
from the emprirical data.
