two author list policy

Here provided below are the details of STARS two author list policy which has been in effect since June 23, 2022 and will be until further notice.

  • “List A” will list STAR colleagues from Russian Institutions, with “Russia” removed from how the Institute address as listed, but does not include those colleagues who have written to the STAR management asking for their names to be removed from future papers.

  • “List B” will not list STAR colleagues from Russian Institutions, but will include those colleagues who have written to the STAR management asking for their names to be removed from future papers.

  • Articles submitted to journals and the arXiv will be submitted with “The STAR Collaboration” as the author list.

  • Upon acceptance for publication List A or List B will be provided to the journal for final publication. At the same time a new version of the paper using the same list will be uploaded to the arXiv. Prior to informing the journal and arXiv of the author list the final version of the paper, with the author list included, will be circulated via star-papers to the collaboration. Amendments to the author list, both additions and removals, can be requested, as per the publication policies, within 3 days of the posting to star-papers.

  • Determination of which list to use will be made via the following steps:

    • If at least one of the PAs is a STAR author who has requested that their name not be published alongside Russian Institutions, and there are no PAs from a Russian Institute, List B will be used.

    • If at least one of the PAs is from a Russian Institution and there are no PAs who are STAR authors who have requested that their name not be published alongside Russian Institutions List A will be used.

    • If at least one of the PAs is a STAR author who has requested that their name not be published alongside Russian Institutions and at least one of the PAs is from a Russian Institution the PAs will be asked to determine which list to use. If the PAs cannot reach agreement List A will be used.

    • If a member of the GPC is a STAR author who has requested that their name not be published alongside Russian Institutions List B will be used.

    • In all other cases List A will be used.

  • If a STAR collaborator’s name appears on either list they will be counted as an “author” when determining shift dues.
